Yoga therapy is the use of yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and other yoga techniques to help individuals with specific health conditions or to improve overall well-being. It can be used as a complementary treatment alongside conventional medical treatments, or as a standalone practice.
Some of the specific health conditions that yoga therapy may be used to treat include chronic pain, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and insomnia. Yoga therapy can also be used to improve overall physical and mental well-being, as well as to manage stress.
Yoga therapy can be done in a group setting, such as in a yoga class, or it can be done one-on-one with a trained yoga therapist. The therapist will work with the individual to create a personalised yoga practice that addresses their specific needs and goals.
The practice of yoga therapy may include a variety of different techniques, such as asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and relaxation techniques. Yoga therapy can also include the use of props, such as blankets and blocks, to help individuals with limited mobility or other physical limitations to participate in the practice.
Overall, yoga therapy is a holistic approach that can be used to improve overall well-being, as well as to treat specific health conditions. It is a safe, non-invasive, and natural way to support healing and improve overall health.
Yogamani treats people and life with warm genuine enthusiasm. She taught me the meaning of going with the flow. That the body may MORE powerfully benefit from a smile, a sound or gentle sweeping movement than athletic pain and prowess. Like the strong circles that emit from a small pebble dropped in the sea. We can flourish more easily than we imagine. And together, it’s easier. For Yogamani it’s ordinary, accessible but bursts with the richness of life; sharing, listening, giving it a go. These ripples travel far and wide.
I have learnt so much in my time practicing yoga with Swami Yogamani. Each class feels made for me, but others feel this too and even on Zoom this happens – quite a skill!
She has such a depth of yogic knowledge and understanding of people, and can teach people at many different levels within one class.
This is truly transformative yoga, right here in Aotearoa.
I am drawn to Yogamani’s classes because they are always changing and are based on her intuition as to what is the best class to teach on the day, depending on who is in the class and what they need. Her classes are interspersed with little gems of knowledge and I always come away feeling like I have learnt something new. I also love the different kinds of meditation I have learned from her over the years and the many and varied teachings she shares. Yogamani’s light shines brightly.
Swami Yogamani has always given unique classes that embrace the individual wants and blending the physical with the spiritual. This total package plus a warm embracing personality. Has brought me to her classes for years.
Swami Yogamani is more than just a yoga teacher. Her knowledge and skill to guide you are valuable and vast, and she is possibly one of them most Divine soul’s you could ever meet. I know you are in the best hands to begin your yoga journey with one of the most traditional and authentic lineages out there. This is the real deal. Sending you all the love of the Heart
